The Gonzaga Bulldogs may have been the Cinderella story of the 1999 tournament but that would come to a screeching halt when they faced Jim Calhoun's Huskies in the Elite Eight.

In the championship game the underdog Huskies faced off against future NBA star Elton Brand and the Duke Blue Devils. Led by Richard Hamilton, who dumped in 27 points, and point guard Khalid El-Amin, the Huskies overcame adversity and captured the title by a score of 77-74.
